W. Blaser AG manufactured Lento patient recliner chairs for Insel Gruppe operating the COVID vaccination centre on the Inselcampus on behalf of the Canton of Bern. The Swiss manufacturer of medical chairs contributes to expanding the fleet of chairs in the vaccination centre.
Today is Wednesday, 24th February 2021. The Blaser team is in front of the temporary building on the Inselcampus at Friedbühlstrasse 15. The building, where COVID vaccinations have been carried out since 11 January 2021, was erected in mid-December 2020 within a record-breaking three weeks. At 1:30 p.m., the unloading is starting. From 1:45 p.m., the patient chairs Lento are part of the vaccination centre’s fleet and can be used by visitors.
The rapid production and delivery of the patient recliner chairs Lento was possible thanks to the successful cooperation between the project management and coordination teams of W. Blaser AG and Insel Gruppe. Visitors can now sit in a relaxed and comfortable position during their vaccination appointments. Each chair is equipped with the antimicrobial hygiene function Sanitized® and thus it has a long-term protection against bacteria, bad odours and biofilm, which is particularly important in view of the current situation. The sitting position of the chair can be easily adjusted. The folding armrests are covered with hardwearing, antibacterial, high-quality artificial leather. Lento combines decades of production experience, which has its manifestation in high functionality and attractive design.
Production of Patient Recliner Chairs
The planning and production of the Lento patient chairs took place just within two weeks. Thanks to the agility as well as the well-rehearsed processes at W. Blaser AG, chairs for the medical use with high demands on durability and functionality can be produced within a very short time. Lukas Graf, the owner and Managing Director of W. Blaser AG, emphasises: “Being the only Swiss medical chair manufacturer, we are very agile and flexible. Today, this is more important than ever to meet very high individual customer demands.”
The Blaser chairs went through several production phases – from bending individual frame tubes and soldering the chair frames together, finishing the frames in a nickel and chrome bath to final assembly.

The COVID vaccination centre on the Inselcampus in Bern is one of the 9 vaccination centres in the canton of Bern. It is operated by the Insel Gruppe on behalf of the Canton of Bern. The centre has been carrying out COVID vaccinations since 11 January 2021.
Visitors can easily get to the vaccination centre at Friedbühlstrasse 15, as there is a bus stop nearby for PostBus and line 12 bus.
