History
Four generations at a glance
Walter Blaser senior
In 1967 Walter Blaser set up the company W. Blaser AG. Before that, Walter Blaser had already made a name for himself as a car body manufacturer. From 1930 onwards, truck bodies, tipper bodies, trailers and cabriolets were built in Burgdorf. In 1935, the Blaser Cabriolet won an award at the Geneva Motor Show. In 1950, the company started the production of mirror systems at Kreuzgraben 10, Burgdorf. After his stay in hospital, Walter Blaser developed a chair system for better sitting and lying comfort. His doctor liked this new type of the reclining chair and inspired him to upgrade it. The Blaser “patient fauteuils”, as they were initially called, were born.

Urs Blaser
In 1957, Urs, son of Walter Blaser, began helping his father out on Saturdays. From 1960 onwards, he actively worked in the company. Urs Blaser knew how to standardize and refine his father’s versatile product range, meet the high-quality standards and market it successfully. In 1963, a new production hall was built in the southern part of Burgdorf. In 1967, W. Blaser AG was founded. Urs Blaser took over the management of the company.
Bendicht Strahm
In 1981, Bendicht Strahm, Urs Blaser’s son-in-law, joined the company and led it according to the proven principles until 2016. The numerous new developments were born thanks to Bendicht Strahm, e.g. the TOWISPICK mirror system, the BlaserClassico medical chair series with the recliner chairs BlaserCare, BlaserSana, BlaserMobil and BlaserLento. Under the guidance of Bendicht Strahm, several furnishing concepts were designed and developed: BlaserIsola for healthy sitting with models such as IsolaCura for hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living, IsolaMedica for doctors’ surgeries and IsolaCasa for home usage. Another milestone in the company’s history was the successful SQS certification in the healthcare sector according to ISO 13485 in 2004.
Lukas Graf
In 2017, Lukas Graf became the owner of the company and its Managing Director. He ensured the company’s continuity. Bendicht Strahm remains responsible for the BlaserVisio division until his retirement and provides assistance to Lukas Graf, being his deputy and advisor during the phase of taking over the management of W. Blaser AG.
In September 2021, Lukas Graf and team launched a new product – the universal device for mooring boats regardless of water level.
